Itinerary

Day 1: Bogotá - La Macarena

Stop At: Canocristales_la_macarena, Av. Alfonso Lopez #40-28, Villavicencio Colombia
et up at first lights, have breakfast and meet your driver at the hotel entrance to take you to the airport. You will fly for about an hour to La Macarena, where you will be picked up at the airport by your local guide. Then, you will take a mandatory 30-minute brief given by Cormacarena ( the tourism bureau of the place). After that, you will walk for 10 minutes through the village to La Cascada Hotel.
Once on your hotel, put your hiking shoes and be ready to start the adventure
Duration: 1 day

Stop At: Cano Cristales, La Macarena Colombia
After you settle in, you will have lunch, and then the local guide will pick you up to embark a boat to take you to the Guayabero River for 25 minutes. Afterwards you will walk for about an hour and reach Caño Cristalitos, a fantastic place with small ponds filled with the characteristic algae that give this river its rainbow-like look. For those with a better physical condition, the next stop will be El Mirador a fantastic place where you will enjoy an amazing view of the wild savannah bordered with the Macarena Mountain Range (1.5 hours hike up to the top of a mountain). In the afternoon, you will get back to the hotel and have dinner at La Macarena.

Day 2: Caño Cristales river

Stop At: Cano Cristales, La Macarena Colombia
On this day, you will visit the main sector of Caño Cristales River. After having breakfast at the hotel, your guide will pick you up, and after about an hour transport by boat and jeep, you will get to the starting point of the hike that will take you to Caño Cristales. Once you reach the river, you will visit many different spots according to your hike level. On these places, you will have the chance to swim and relax at the Willy Wonka-like ponds and enjoy your lunch box. In the afternoon, you will have time to rest at the hotel before the dinner event, where you will enjoy a “ternera a la llanera”( a typical beef preparation of the Colombian flatlands) while listening to a live band of “joropo”( typical music of that part of Colombia).

Day 3: Los Pilones y Caño Piedra

Stop At: Cano Cristales, La Macarena Colombia
On your last day at La Macarena, you will visit Los Pilones, which is a scenic hike through a stone canon with lush green vegetation. Alternatively, you will visit Caño Pedra, another prominent spot for taking a bath at a crystal-clear water river in the middle of the vast savannah. At the end of the hike, you will visit a new section of the river, and be back on time at La Macarena for lunchtime. In the afternoon, you will back to Bogotá, where a driver will pick you from the airport and take you to your Bogotá hotel.

Visit: Bioparque Los Ocarros, Km. 3 via Restrepo, Villavicencio Colombia

The Biopark, is a thematic zoo of fauna of the Orinoquia Region of Colombia; where you can see Andean bears, jaguars, anacondas, poisonous snakes, crocodiles, primates, the emblematic Ocarro, among other species, just 5 minutes from Villavicencio Meta (Colombia), on the road that leads to the municipality of Restrepo.

A place of 5.5 hectares that has large areas for the enclosures of around 1492 animals and 148 species of the ecosystem of the region.

You can travel by car or bus from Bogota, the nearest main city. The journey will take you approximately 3-hour but you will be able to enjoy the landscape and many traditional food stops along the way.

Within our facilities also operates the "home of passage" which is the Cormacarena Corporation's Attention and Valuation Center, where the animals that have been victims of the illegal traffic of fauna and run over on the tracks arrive; to which evaluations are made (medical, nutritional and biological), which according to the results allow to determine the final destination of them, prioritizing the relocation in their habitat.

We must clarify that the Biopark does not extract fauna from the environment, does not have a hunting license (it does not contemplate processing it) and does not market with fauna either. The animals that are in the collection are animals that could not be released or relocated due to their affections. A space that inspires peace, respect for the environment; It is a classroom open to research and education. There are specialized tours, workshops, conferences and seminars.
